Good morning!

We are in the final week of school, and this will be a busy week!

Many of you have been asking about staffing for next year.  In the past, I have usually shared this information with the parent community in my final year-end email.  However, I’ve decided to send this information out a few days earlier this year, due to some staff that are leaving the SCCS community, and this way, everyone has a chance to say goodbye.

At this time, I would like to wish the following staff all the best as they move on from SCCS and follow a new path in their careers. Mrs. Fennell, Mr. Bourquin, Ms. Carter, Ms. Fogel, we wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Thank you for all you have done at St. Charles and know that you will be missed.  Charger strong!

WE NEED YOUR HELP – UPDATE

Your kindness and generosity are amazing SCCS community!!  Donations are coming in, and the family is extremely grateful.  Our front foyer is getting full, but we still have room.  We will continue taking donations into next week.  If you would like to make a monetary donation, please do so at the front office. Charger strong!

As I’m sure many of you are aware, there was a large apartment fire over the weekend in the Crestview area, which left many families without a home, or any personal belongings.

Two of our SCCS students, (Sophia and Gabriella), have a personal connection to this situation, as their uncle, aunt and two cousins, two daughters, 4 years old and 18 months old, were among those left without a home.

Sophia in gr. 6 came to me to ask if we could help in any way.  Of course, this is a wonderful opportunity to show our support to those who need it most right now.

Here are a few options that would be greatly appreciated, but we are open to other items as well.  A toy, or a gently used pjs or other clothing would be wonderful!

We will also be collecting money in the front office, even a $1 would help!  The smallest contribution will have the biggest impact.

Please send items to school beginning tomorrow, and there will be boxes in the front foyer to help with collection.

Thanking you in advance for your generous support.

Go Chargers!

Sincerely,
Tammy

Dear God, through your wonderful works of creation, you teach us the simple truths we need to be happy if we have the ears to hear and the eyes to see.  In the beauty of creation, may we see that your love for the world is ever bright.  May we take time to give thanks to you, God, for the majesty of your world. Amen.

Hope you all have a terrific weekend!
See you on Monday!

SCHOOL TRIP TO ROME 2023

This spring break, 16 of us embarked on a trip of a lifetime together to Italy. We returned full of so many great memories! I will never forget this experience or this group! Thank you to all of you for your support throughout this trip. You were an amazing group to travel with and were so helpful and supportive. We went everywhere we could and saw all the main sights of Rome, the “heart of all civilization.” We also travelled outside of Rome to see the countryside and south to the city of Pompeii. We did all of this in just 8 days. In fact, we walked over 82 km in total. That is incredible! A special thank you to the SCCS Board for supporting the adventure and to Heartland Travel for organizing this amazing tour.

Our next school trip to Rome is in 2025.

On Wednesday, April 26th, following the Camp Arnes meeting, we will be available to answer any questions you may have about travelling to Rome as a school group, but planning will begin in the fall of 2024.

Dear Jesus, at the Last Supper, you blessed us with the beauty of the Eucharist, a sign of love and unity.  Your song at this meal resonates through our liturgy and our lives.  It echoes in our work and play.  Your song calls us forward along paths of goodness and justice, along paths that will lead us home.
Amen.

Wishing you all a very blessed Easter weekend!  May we always remember that as faithful followers of Jesus, we carry His light within our minds, our hearts, and souls.  Let us always allow that light to shine through us every day.

See you all on Tuesday!

SCIENCE FAIR

As many of you know, last week March 17 was our school science fair. Middle years students have been working hard for the last 3 months preparing for the science fair and as a teacher I was so proud to see all their hard work pay off. I want to congratulate each student for doing an amazing job on something that is challenging and new for them! We had two different categories where students could enter their projects into 1. The engineering design. These students created something to solve a problem, they used the engineering design process to build their creation. 2. The other category is scientific research. These students conducted an experiment which allowed them to do research which was to test a hypothesis.

Our engineer design winners are:

  1. Delara  (6C)
  2. Mason (grade 6C)
  3. Logan (grade 7)

Our scientific research winners are:

The developmental boys had a great season! They learned many new skills, how to work together as a team and even learned a few plays. As the season went on the boys became more confident in their abilities and eventually won a game! I am proud of their hard work, dedication, and the growth they have achieved this season!

Kelsey Copeland

The girls had a great season of growth. Despite not winning the girls fought hard every game and steadily improved this season and by the end became a that provided a challenge to all comers! I’m so proud of the girls fight and drive this season.

Brett Bourquin

Boys’ Competitive Basketball Team

The boys’ competitive basketball team had a very successful season this year.  Their hard work, effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship were very impressive to watch throughout the season.  The boys’ team was very dedicated to improving this year, as they consistently showed up to all the practices and games, (even the 7am morning practices).  The boys finished the regular season with a 7-1 record and finished in first place in their division.  They continued their great play into the playoffs winning the championship at St. Paul’s on March 18th, with a thrilling 39-38 victory.  Great job this season!

LENTEN MISSION—SILOAM SOCK/UNDERWEAR DRIVE

Two of our grade 5 students, Madison, and Selina, have started a socks and underwear drive for Siloam Mission. They are asking for new pairs of socks and underwear- all sizes and gender, to be brought to the school February 22, 2023- April 6, 2023.

Boxes will be in the front foyer of the school for students to make their contributions.

Through your support, Siloam Mission can provide vital services to improve the quality of life of those experiencing homelessness.

Thanking you in advance for your contributions.

LENTEN MISSION—40 CANS FOR LENT

We are also collecting cans of food for Lent.  This initiative is in conjunction with St. Charles Parish.  Please send your cans of food with your child and help us fill the boxes in the front foyer of the school.

Thank you!

Have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you all on Monday!
