Principal’s Update – March 28, 2025
LENT: Growth, Reflection, and Renewal
As we enter the fourth week of Lent and look ahead to Spring Break, we are reminded that this season is about renewal, reflection, and growth. This Sunday’s Gospel, the Parable of the Prodigal Son, beautifully illustrates God’s mercy and the importance of learning from our experiences. Just as the father in the parable welcomes his son with open arms, Lent invites us to reflect on where we are and how we can continue to grow.
This theme of growth also connects with our Parent-Teacher Interviews and Student-Led Conferences. These meetings provide an opportunity to celebrate each child’s progress, acknowledge areas for improvement, and set goals for the months ahead. Just as we nurture faith and learning at school, these conversations help strengthen the partnership between home and school in supporting each student’s journey. It was amazing to see all the families participate this year.
Spring Break offers a similar opportunity to pause, recharge, and spend time with family. Whether traveling or enjoying rest at home, this break can be a time to nurture faith, appreciate the blessings around us, and prepare our hearts for the final weeks of Lent.

Families will receive a package with ordering details. Kindergarten students should wear their uniform, while Grade 8 students should dress in their “Sunday best” for photos and change into their school uniform for the rest of the day.
We look forward to capturing this special milestone!

As part of our Lenten journey, we are participating in 40 Cans for Lent, a food drive rooted in Catholic values of compassion and service. This initiative encourages us to give to those in need by collecting non-perishable food items for Winnipeg Harvest.
Students can bring donations to their homeroom teacher’s collection boxes. Together, we can make a difference by living out our faith through generosity and kindness. Thank you for your support!

ST. CHARLES CATHOLIC SCHOOL’S 2025 SCIENCE FAIR – A HUGE SUCCESS!
The 2025 St. Charles Catholic School Science Fair was a fantastic event, showcasing 33 outstanding projects from our Grade 7 and 8 students. Their projects covered a wide range of scientific topics, including water purification, motor creation, sugar testing for cotton candy, random number generators, and more.
This year, we were thrilled to introduce a special addition—our Grade 5 and 6 Science Fair Club projects! These dedicated students chose to create their own projects and spent months working after school to bring them to life.
A huge thank you goes out to our judges, without whom this event would not be possible. We deeply appreciate the SCCS family members working in STEM fields who volunteered their time, the Geoengineering Society of Manitoba for providing judges, and the Graduate Students in Science from the University of Manitoba for their support.
Finally, congratulations to our Science Fair winners!
