Principal’s Weekly Update – March 1st, 2024

Drop-off Zone: We sincerely appreciate all our parent volunteers who help with the drop-off zone every morning. However, some mornings we do not have parent volunteers. Please remember that if your child is unable to get out of the car on their own, you need to park in the church parking lot and walk them across. You should not be leaving your vehicle or dropping your child off by the crosswalk.

TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED THIS WEEK…

Our Middle Years students had their Enrichment classes on Tuesday morning.
It was Pink Shirt Day on Wednesday. We also had an assembly. The magician/presenter was Greg Wood, and the focus of the assembly was on kindness/bullying.
It was Hot Dog Lunch on Wednesday for those students who ordered.
Today all outstanding Middle Years assignments for term 2 were due.

LOOK WHAT’S HAPPENING NEXT WEEK….

Our grades 7 & 8 students leave for Winter Camp on Monday until Wednesday. They will be staying at Camp Assiniboine until Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. Prettie and I will be participating in an online workshop on Tuesday entitled: Manitoba School Leadership Framework.
Our grades 3-6 students will be participating in the Music Festival on Wednesday morning. Good luck to Ms. Kynman and her choir!
Wednesday is Pizza Lunch for those students who have ordered.
Term 2 officially ends on Thursday. PowerSchool will close that day as well so that teachers can begin working on report cards.
Thursday morning, I will be attending the Manitoba Federation of Independent Schools Education Committee virtual meeting.
Thursday is early dismissal at 2:30pm since it is our monthly Staff Meeting day.
Friday is no school as teachers will be writing report cards that day.

LOOK WHAT’S COMING UP…..

Grades 5-8 students will participate in Reconciliation in the morning on March 13^th.
I will be attending my monthly Principal’s Meeting on March 13^th as well.
There is a PAC Meeting on Wednesday, March 13^th @ 6:30pm in our school cafeteria.
Pii day is being celebrated in the grades 7 & 8 Math classes on March 14^th.
Our annual Science Fair for grades 7 & 8 students will be held on Friday, March 15^th.
Book Fair Week begins March 18^th-22^nd.
Student-Led Conferences are on March 21^st 4:00-7:30pm, and March 22^nd, 9:00-11:30am. Please watch for a Sign-Up Genius link coming soon.
Reports cards go home on March 21^st.
Friday, March 22^nd is an Inservice Day. There is no school. BASC closes at 4:00pm.
Spring Break begins March 25^th-April April 2^nd.

New month— please submit your BASC form.
There is BLINE on Monday.
The St. Patty’s Craft is on Tuesday.
BLINE is on Wednesday.
Early dismissal is on Thursday.
Friday is no school, and BASC is full.
Friday, March 22^nd —BASC closes at 4PM.
April has a Mother’s Day Craft, and a Field Trip on Friday, April 12th.
May has a Father’s Day Craft, Golf, Tennis, and a Morning Breakfast Workshop.
June will have a Field Trip on Friday, June 7th.

Any student not picked up by the time we close will be charged a late fee.

BLESSING BAGS

Thanks to your incredible generosity, we have successfully collected over $500.00 for our Blessing Bag initiative! The funds gathered helped us to purchase essential items and necessities to bring comfort and warmth to those in need. Each bag contains a pair of thermal socks, a package of wipes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, a water bottle, band aids, and a granola bar. This week the Mass Readers Club assembled the 100 Blessing Bags.
A very special thank you to Revive Dental who donated toothbrushes for this worthy cause.
Once again, thank you for your incredible support. It is heartening to witness the power of our community coming together to spread kindness.

SCCS GOLF TOURNAMENT

This year’s Golf Tournament is Thursday, May 23, 2024 @ Breezy Bend Golf Course, please mark it in your calendars! We need help from the entire St Charles community to make this a success. We need golfers, hole sponsors (tax receipt provided) and we need prize donations. Forms can be found on the school website.

GLENLEA GREENHOUSES FUNDRAISER-ORDER NOW!

Excited for Spring? We are once again partnering with Glenlea Greenhouses for a spring fundraiser. Order a variety of high-quality plants and veggies online and our school will benefit! All orders can be placed online now until April 15^th, and you’re encouraged to order early for best selection. The Greenhouse has indicated that this is a popular fundraiser and they do sell out of plants. Please follow the directions in the enclosed letter. The plants will be delivered to St. Charles Catholic School on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. If you have any questions, please contact Kasia at plantfundraiser@stccs.ca Thank you for your support!

SPENST PIZZA FUNDRAISER

Only one more week to collect your Spenst Pizza Fundraiser orders!!! Please support SCCS by collecting pizza orders from family and friends. Order Forms were sent home with your child last Friday. All orders and payment will need to be submitted to the MunchaLunch website, no later than March 7th please. Delivery date will be March 20th.
