Principal’s Update – October 4th, 2024
This past week brought a variety of weather conditions, which meant some indoor recesses where students stayed in their classrooms, engaging in games and activities with their peers. The change of scenery was refreshing for many, though we were fortunate to still enjoy some sunny, pleasant days. Outside, our turf area was busy with students, and the new playhouse—complete with furniture—quickly became a popular spot for imaginative play. The new basketball nets saw plenty of action, with students lining up for a turn. 4-square continued to be a schoolyard favorite, while games of tag, soccer, and tag football kept our students active and energized.
Lunch hour was equally lively, with several extracurricular activities keeping students engaged. Volleyball practices were well-attended, and the music room was a hub of creativity with band practices in full swing. Our String Ambassadors and Song Leaders practiced diligently in their weekly sessions, preparing for future performances. Meanwhile, the Running Club remained committed, with a dedicated group of runners hitting their stride each day, displaying tremendous perseverance and enthusiasm.
On the academic side, we’ve firmly settled into Term 1. Our older students completed assessments in their core subjects and are staying on track with their assignments. Reading groups were formed and are actively engaged in building literacy skills. Weekly spelling tests, including those in French for the older students, challenged our learners and reinforced important language concepts. With routines fully established, there was a focused and determined atmosphere throughout the school, as students and staff worked together toward achieving academic goals.
The building has truly come alive with both learning and play, as we continue moving forward with great energy and commitment!

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your
heart, as working for the Lord, since you know that you will receive an
inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are
serving.” Colossians 3:23-24This passage encourages putting forth our best effort in everything we do, which reflects the students’ commitment to their academics, extracurriculars, and community life at St. Charles. It also serves as a reminder that all our work is done in service to God, aligning with the school’s Catholic mission.
Have a great weekend!
