SCCS Golf Tournament

SCCS 26th Annual Golf Tournament takes place this THURSDAY, May 21st at Breezy Bend Golf and Country Cub.

We are grateful for the support already received; however, we still have a few key areas where additional assistance would greatly help ensure the success of this event:

How you can help:

  • Prizes: We are seeking gift card donations valued between $25–$50 (e.g., restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations).
  • Wine Raffle: Additional wine bottle donations are still needed.
  • Volunteers: We are looking for at least six more volunteers for May 21, from approximately 11:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Volunteers will receive double volunteer-hour credit and will qualify for free BASC for that day.

If you are able to support in any of these ways, please drop off items at the school office or contact the Golf Tournament Coordinator at andreasiwak@shaw.ca.

As a reminder, $30 equals one volunteer hour, making this a great opportunity to complete hours before the end of the school year.

Our recent trip to Camp Manitou was a truly enriching experience for our students, staff, and school community. The opportunity to learn, grow, and connect in an outdoor setting created lasting memories and meaningful learning.

We are grateful to our parent community for their ongoing support, which helps make experiences like this possible. A special thank you to our parent volunteers who generously gave their time and energy—your presence and support made a significant difference throughout the camp.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to our staff for their careful planning and dedication in organizing a safe, engaging, and enjoyable experience for all. Finally, we commend our students for their courage to try new activities and fully participate in this opportunity. Your enthusiasm and willingness to step outside your comfort zone make our school a better place.

We are pleased to share that our Grades 6–8 Choir has been selected to perform at the Canadian Catholic School Trustees’ Association 2026 Conference-an exciting honour and opportunity to represent St. Charles Catholic School.

SCHOOL SAFETY PATROL RECOGNITION

We are proud to share that our School Safety Patrol team has been awarded Third Place in the Independent School Division. Throughout the school year, patrol teams across the division were observed and evaluated on their performance by School Engagement Officers. We congratulate our patrol members and supervisors on this well‑deserved recognition and thank them for their commitment to safety and leadership within our school community.

Our badminton season has come to a close, with our Grade 6–8 teams competing in their end-of-season tournaments.

Congratulations to our Grade 6 girls’ and boys’ teams, who both earned 3rd place finishes at the MCSAA Badminton Tournament. We are proud to recognize the following student achievements:

  • Sarah and Meera – 3rd place, Grade 6 girls’ doubles
  • Andy and Sarah – 1st place, Grade 6 mixed doubles
  • Margaret – 2nd place, Grade 7 girls’ singles
  • Charlie and Bennett – 4th place, Grade 8 boys’ doubles

Well done to all of our athletes for their dedication and sportsmanship throughout the season.

Keira Bond, a former student and like every student who has been part of our community, was deeply valued and made a lasting impact that continues today.

Her memorial tree at the front of our school reminds us of her life and spirit. Each year, our community comes together to honour her memory through Keira’s Walk, and we are grateful for the continued support and care shown by our families and staff. Please see the information below from Mrs. Froystad, our Grade 5 Teacher.

Dear SCCS Community,
I’m writing to invite you to join the team, Keira’s Krusaders, in support of Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. We’d love to have you join the national movement to end brain tumours and to honour the memory of a very special girl, Keira Bond. This year our Keira Krusader Crew will be meeting at Grant’s Old Mill at 10:00 am on Sunday, June 14th.  We will be walking together along Sturgeon Creek, a place Keira enjoyed. To join our team, simply click on the link below.
Join or Donate to Keira’s Krusaders Team. If you are unable to join the team to walk but would like to learn more about Keira or donate to the cause, click on the link above as well.

Sincerely,
Nancy Froystad

If your child is unable to attend, please notify Mrs. Gregorchuk by email. Your communication is appreciated, as this concert is an important component of students’ performance learning goals and supports both individual progress and overall school planning.

Our Middle Years students recently completed the Respect Tipi project, a collaborative learning activity focused on respect, community, and reconciliation. Through the creation of the tipi, students explored the meaning of respect for self, others, creation, and Indigenous cultures, while also learning about the significance of the tipi as a traditional Indigenous structure. The project encouraged thoughtful dialogue, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of how respect is lived out in our daily interactions and school community.

We are excited to welcome Seed Survivor back to our school! This was a highlight for our students last year, and we are looking forward to another engaging and enriching experience.

Students in Grades 1-4 will participate in hands-on, outdoor learning activities that explore agriculture, sustainability, and the importance of where our food comes from. It is an incredible opportunity for students to learn in an interactive and meaningful way-bringing science and environmental awareness to life.

We learned so much during their visit last year, and we are thrilled to continue building on that experience!

We are asking for your help! So far we have raised $108,095. Amazing!
You can track our progress on the school website. There is also an attached QR code in the brochure (see .pdf copy below).
