Principal’s Update – May 23, 2025
This week, our school has been filled with peaceful intention as we come together each morning to pray the Rosary in honour of Mary, Mother of God. As the perfect model of faith and leadership, Mary teaches us the power of quiet strength, trust in God’s plan, and compassionate guidance. Through her example, our students are learning that true leadership begins with love, humility, and courage – values we see them practicing every day in both small and significant ways.
This same spirit of leadership and community is at the heart of our 25th Annual Memorial Golf Tournament, which took place on Thursday. This beloved tradition is more than a fundraiser—it is a celebration of the legacy of two remarkable leaders in our school’s history: Mr. Robert Morrison, former principal, and Mr. Chad Friesen, former Board member. Their dedication, faith, and commitment to Catholic education continue to inspire us. We honour them by gathering as a community, supporting our school, and investing in the future of our students. To the many parents, staff, alumni, and supporters who make this event possible—thank you. Your generosity and involvement are what make St. Charles Catholic School such a strong and vibrant place to learn and grow.
Let us carry Mary’s example into the week ahead, leading with grace and lifting each other up with kindness and purpose.
“Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.”
— Luke 1:38

A SPECIAL VISITOR AT SCCS!
On Thursday, we discovered that a duck has made a nest and laid an egg at the back of the school!
As ducks are a protected species under the Wildlife Act, the nest cannot be moved or disturbed. It may take up to 21 days for the egg to hatch.
In the meantime, we’ve roped off the area to create a safe and peaceful habitat, and we’re excited to observe and learn from this special moment in nature over the next few weeks. What a wonderful opportunity for our students!

GRADE 1 SCIENCE IN ACTION – SUNDIAL EXPERIMENT
Our Grade 1 students recently explored how the sun can help us tell time by creating their own sundials!
As part of their science learning, they observed how shadows move throughout the day and how this connects to the sun’s position in the sky. It was a fun and hands-on way to learn about time and nature.
Here’s a great class photo capturing their excitement and curiosity during this sunny experiment! (SEE Update at bottom of page)
