Principal’s Weekly Update and Important Information- March 6, 2026

Attachment:

As we move into March and prepare for a busy and meaningful season at SCCS, I want to extend my gratitude to our families for their ongoing support and partnership.

I also want to take a moment to acknowledge our dedicated teachers and the remarkable work they do each day. Their commitment, creativity, and care for our students are at the heart of everything we accomplish as a school community. We are truly blessed with an amazing staff whose efforts make SCCS a vibrant place for learning and growth.

Our focus in March is on Term 2 wrapping up, with report cards, student‑led conferences, and parent–teacher interviews approaching. This is an important time for parents to check in with teachers, ask questions, and seek support as we prepare to finish the year strong. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child’s teachers. These conversations help ensure that every child is on a clear and confident path heading into the final months of the school year.

The coming weeks will be filled with learning, celebration, and community connection. I look forward to all that this next chapter will bring as we continue working together to support the growth and well‑being of every student.

As part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening our school and planning responsibly for the future, we are conducting a strategic survey to gather meaningful feedback from our community. Your perspective as a parent is essential. The insights you share will help us better understand our strengths, identify areas for growth, and prioritize our work in the years ahead. All responses are confidential, and the survey takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete. Parent Survey: https://forms.gle/7ewdzwJNaXLTEHzi7 Due: March 15, 2026

This week, our Grades 3–5 and Grades 6–8 choirs performed at the annual Music Festival held at Portage Avenue Church. Each choir presented two beautifully prepared pieces, and both groups looked and sounded exceptional. We are incredibly proud of our students’ hard work, dedication, and musical growth.

Both choirs received an Excellent rating from the adjudicator. In addition, the Grades 3–5 Choir earned a Gold, and the Grades 6–8 Choir received a Silver—a wonderful accomplishment for all involved.

Congratulations to Mrs. Gregorchuk for her musical leadership and preparation, which were instrumental in guiding both choirs to such an impressive showing at this year’s Music Festival.

As part of our Lenten journey, we are participating in the 40 Cans for Lent initiative. Families are encouraged to donate canned goods and non‑perishable items, which can be dropped off at the school office or in classrooms.

Giving teaches children compassion, empathy, and responsibility. You can help nurture generosity at home by:

  • Choosing pantry items together to donate
  • Selecting a donation while grocery shopping and discussing its impact
  • Encouraging children to earn and set aside a portion for charity

Thank you for helping us make a meaningful impact this season.

MAY 4: Tickets can be purchased in the school office.

Support our Musical program by purchasing tickets for musical baskets! Tickets are $2 each and can be purchased through the school office or at WAG on May 4.

This year’s baskets include:

  • Kids’ Basket – valued at $150
  • Couples’ Basket – valued at $300
  • Family Basket – valued at $375

We continue to see students getting in and out of vehicles in unsafe areas. This increases the risk of accidents. The problem areas continue to be:

  • The bus loop
  • Cars stopping on St. Charles Street (both sides)

For everyone’s safety, please use only the designated loading zone, parking lot, behind the church or any side streets for student drop-off and pick-up. Your cooperation helps keep all students and families safe. We are looking for parent volunteers to assist with our parking lot and loading zone patrol. Please sign up using the link below:

Our Scholastic Book Fair is coming soon! The fair will run March 23–27 in the cafeteria. Families can shop after school, and students will also have the opportunity to purchase items during lunch hour.

Please send cash in a labeled envelope if your child will be shopping at lunch. Our wonderful parent volunteers will be on hand to assist students as they browse. There will also be fun contests throughout the week to help celebrate our love of reading!

Every purchase helps us add new books to our classrooms and school library, directly supporting literacy for all our students.
