Since it was a short week at SCCS, I thought I would take the opportunity to officially announce that the excitement is building in our school as we prepare for our Christmas Concert. This event is always a highlight of our school year – a time when our entire community gathers to celebrate the joy of the Christmas season.
This year, we are thrilled to announce that our concert will be held at:
Portage Avenue Church (1420 Portage Avenue)
Tuesday, December 16th
Start Time: 6:30 PM
Please note: there is no matinee performance.
Given the growing size of our school community, finding a venue that can comfortably seat close to 1,000 people is essential. Hosting two performances in one day is no longer feasible or sustainable. This new location allows us to come together for one beautiful evening performance, offering:
- The best possible seating for families
- An enhanced stage and backstage experience for students
- A spacious, accessible venue ideal for a full-school production
We are also pleased to share that the concert will be live streamed, allowing extended family members who cannot attend in person to be part of this joyful celebration.
Our students and staff have been working incredibly hard, and from what I have seen so far, it is going to be a spectacular performance. Please save the date – your family’s participation is an important part of making this evening meaningful. More details will follow in the coming weeks!

LICE REMINDER FOR FAMILIES
As we move through the school year, we kindly remind families to regularly check their children’s hair for head lice. Lice are common and can spread easily in environments where children are in close contact. Please take a few minutes each week to inspect your child’s scalp, especially behind the ears and at the nape of the neck. If lice or nits (eggs) are found, please treat promptly and notify the school. Early detection helps prevent further spread.
Lice FAQs:
- Is an itchy head always a sign of lice? Not necessarily. While itching can occur, many children with lice do not feel itchy at all.
- Can lice jump from head-to-head? No. Lice do not jump or fly-they crawl. They spread through direct head-to-head contact.
- Do lice live on pets? No. Head lice only live on human scalps, not on pets.
- What do nits look like? Nits are tiny, oval-shaped eggs that stick to the hair shaft close to the scalp. They can look like dandruff but don’t flake off easily.
Thank you for helping us keep our school community healthy!
KINDERGARTEN 2026 – OPEN HOUSE INFORMATION
Do you have a child ready for kindergarten next year? If so, please let the office know so we can add your information to our list.
We are excited to invite families to our Kindergarten Open House on Tuesday, November 25 at 6:30 PM. The evening will include an information session, a school tour led by our student ambassadors, and a small reception.
On Wednesday, an Open House card was sent home with the youngest child in each family. Please do not throw these cards away-feel free to share them with someone you know, post them at your workplace, or add them to a community bulletin board.
Our current families are truly our best ambassadors, and we appreciate your continued support in promoting our school.
