Principal’s Update – June 13, 2025

What an energetic and joyful week it has been at St. Charles Catholic School! GO CHARGERS!

Our students laced up, cheered loudly, and showed incredible heart during our Track & Field events at the University of Manitoba, as well as our Fun Day for Kindergarten to Grade 3.

Our Grades 7 & 8 students kicked off the week with strong showings across all events – sprints, relays, long jump, and more – demonstrating not only athletic ability, but outstanding sportsmanship. On Tuesday, our Grades 4 – 6 students rose to the occasion, racing with determination and pride. It was inspiring to see so many students doing their best and supporting one another with cheers and high-fives. St. Charles truly stood out – not just on the track, but in spirit.

Meanwhile, our K – 3 students enjoyed a high-energy Fun Day, filled with games, team-building, and sunshine. Music and excitement were in the air as they rotated through outdoor stations designed to keep them active and engaged.

A huge thank you to our staff for their thoughtful planning and leadership throughout the week. Your efforts have helped remind students that being active, working as a team, and showing good sportsmanship are the real victories.

The school calendar for the upcoming school year is now available on our SCCS website. Please be aware that this calendar gets updated regularly and changes can be made.
Please continue to check the website for updates!

We held a special Donuts with Dad celebration in kindergarten to honour the amazing father figures in our students’ lives!

With Summer Colour Days, students are welcome to bring their own gym clothes to change into for PE class. Students still must change out of their regular clothes for gym. Some students may find it easier to continue wearing their regular uniform gym clothes, which is absolutely fine.

Please also ensure students wear proper footwear for physical activity—no slides, flip flops, or crocs.

The school supply lists for the upcoming school year are now posted on the SCCS website.

You’ll find detailed lists by grade to help you prepare for September. We encourage families to review the lists early to take advantage of back-to-school sales over the summer.

To access the supply lists, please visit our website and look under the “Parent Information”, “Shop”, or “Resources” section.

Thank you for your support in helping students start the new school year organized and ready to learn!

We invite all families – especially those with current Grade 5 students and any new families joining SCCS – to attend our Band Information Night on June 17th at 6:30 PM as we prepare for next year’s music program for Grades 6 to 8.

Come and enjoy a performance by our talented Wind Ambassadors, and take the opportunity to meet our music teacher, who will be available to answer questions about the program. Topics will include:

Instrument rentalsPractice tips
Program expectationsLive demonstrations of various band instruments

Students are welcome to attend with their parents or guardians, but attendance is not required.

Whether your child is new to band or continuing their musical journey, this evening is a great way to learn more and feel supported as we plan ahead for the new school year.

PAC is also inviting parents to consider becoming a Classroom Representative for the 2025–2026 school year. If you’re interested in supporting classroom communication and parent engagement, please submit your name for consideration by Thursday, June 26th. Submissions can be sent to the PAC Chair at stccspac@stccs.ca. Classroom Reps will be confirmed at the first PAC meeting on Wednesday, September 10th. We appreciate your continued involvement and support in building a strong school community!

The school year is quickly coming to an end and there are many families without VIP hours logged on Permission Click.  If you have opted into the VIP program, you are required to complete 20 hours by the end of the year, or you will be invoiced.

The VIP Committee will start verifying hours on June 22nd, 2025. Please ensure all completed hours are logged into Permission Click by June 21st, 2025 at noon.

An updated copy of the VIP hours has been uploaded onto the website. (report was ran May 27th).  Please log in and verify the number of hours is correct for your family (check all possible last names used).  If the number or status is incorrect please email vip@stccs.ca and we will assist you. If you are unable to complete your VIP hours the front office will be accepting gift cards (GC) until June 16th.   A $30 gift card is equivalent to 1 VIP hour.  The gift cards will be used for prizes for BINGO, Trivia Night, Craft Market and our Golf Tournament.  Please ensure all gift cards are placed in an envelope labelled “VIP Hours GC” with your family name and the gift card total. If you have not logged any hours and have decided to opt out of the VIP program please reach out to finance@stccs.ca and they will assist you further.

VIP hours will not be accepted via email as they must be logged into Permission Click.  If you do not have a username/password for the school website please reach out to websitemanager@stccs.ca and they will assist you further.

If you have any question about VIP hours, please contact the VIP Committee at vip@stccs.ca

Congratulations to our Grade 5 students, Grade 6 captains, and Mrs. Froystad for receiving the Patrols of the Year award for placing 1st in our school division.

Report cards will be distributed on Friday, June 27th and will not be sent home earlier. Students will receive their report cards at dismissal on that day.

If your child will not be in attendance on June 27th, you may pick up their report card:

  • From their homeroom teacher between 9:00–11:30 AM, or
  • From the front office between 11:35 AM–2:00 PM
